This year at the 57th ASA opening night (Ashburton Society of Artists) no less than four of the awards that were handed out on the night (awarded by artist and gallery owner Min Kim) were artists from Art Box Gallery! They included Christine Lang ( highly commended), Beverley Frost ( Forest and Bird) Polina Collins and Susie Millichamp. The annual art show is held in the main gallery in Ashburton, a wonderful space to exhibit in. It goes on until 30th July so if you get time you should head down for a good day out to view all of the winners and their art. Congratulations and thanks to the hard working volunteers at the ASA for a beautiful display of art, sculptures, photography and craft.

Thanks to this happy client :
Bev was really great to deal with, fast & easy communication, & helped me purchase the piece I wanted! Would definitely recommend 👍 Thanks to Treena from Swift Designs for including us in the Stuff editorial this week about favourite designs from Interior designers. We really enjoyed being asked to create commissioned artworks for these great clients locally who just love colour. It features artworks by Florence Egasse and Beverley Frost which were created with the clients in mind. (Thanks to Stuff for the images and Swift Designs)
Many of our clients wonder what art will look like in their own spaces and so we can provide a service to bring the work to your home or you can borrow it to try. However, with the clients that are further away this isn't so easy so we can superimpose the painting on your walls! All you have to do is send us a photo (straight on to your wall) to artboxgallery@xtra.co.nz. We will select the work you love and place it on your wall to give you a much better idea of the end result. It helps us if you can place some post it notes on the wall so that we can judge the sizing. It's been a very effective and helpful tool to assist lots of our clients choosing what will look good on walls.
Lovely little advert in the December issue of Avenues this month. We've featured the round original work of Jody Hope Gibbons and think it looks great on the 'Objet D'Art' section.
At Art Box Gallery we are delighted to hear that one of our talented North Island artists, Kirsty Black, was nominated as a finalist in the 2020 national Parkin Drawing awards. This prestigious award gets a lot of publicity and so we are super proud that Kirsty got into the finals this year. Congratulations and onwards and upwards for you!
Since Covid 19 we have been delighted to discover that many of our clients, regular and new, are buying New Zealand made artworks. Many of our regular clients are returning time and time again to support local artists and our little gallery. We are so very grateful and feel so supported in this. We hope it goes on for a long time to come. So why not check out our latest works page and whether it be cards, prints or originals continue to support the creative community by buying local and buying NZ Made. Here's a grateful client from Auckland who recently purchased then kindly sent us a photo montage of her new painting. Thank you!!
'The artworks look so good, we are thrilled!. Thanks so much for your excellent advice and top service- so much appreciated' Dave and Linda
Thanks for your wonderful support of our artists during the Covid19 lockdown promotion. Everyday we posted new works and everyday we sold one to several little $100 originals! We had clients waiting everyday for the latest offering and many of them were snapped up in seconds! You had to be quick to get one. We then paid our artists as soon as they sold so that money was flowing to them just when they needed it most. We had a lot of fun when our clients visited to collect their little paintings in level 3 and we hand delivered many of them too. Some heading off to Australia and all over New Zealand. Many of our clients said they found it a highlight of their day to see what was going to be offered next and we had plenty of requests for commissions too from it. How grateful we were at Art Box to all of our wonderful facebook visitors - you kept us painting and helped our ratings climb really high too! Here's just a few that sold....
Art Box Gallery have put out the challenge for their artists to create pieces of work during the lockdown due to Covid-19 virus. Each artist is allowed to produce up to ten pieces of art any medium or genre in the time they aren't able to get out and about. We've got quite a few signed up already so looking forward to sharing them with you as time goes on. Each piece will then be delivered to the gallery after the lockdown and we hope to display them all. Any piece will be valued at $100 and the artists will receive the lion share of sales as its a pretty tough time out there now in the creative world. As they appear online you are able to 'grab' one and I'll put your name on it for later. It's a great way of starting a collection or getting a piece of art from an artist you love. We hope you join us on our facebook page as we upload them. Art Box Gallery@ Loftus
