Congratulations to one of our talented artists, Kate Beatty on her recent top prize at this years' Christchurch Art Show. Kate also received the People's Choice award sponsored by Lawsons Dry Hills Winery. 'Wood Pigeon' painted in oils on board was her creation shown here. Well done Kate. We have more originals and limited edition prints available at Art Box. (Image courtesy of Christchurch Art Show)

Loving our new advert in this months edition of Abode. If you want a complimentary copy just drop past the gallery and we can give you one. Featuring Anne Dillon's original framed acrylic 'Reconstruction' it looks awesome in the 'Inspiring Finds' section.
Art Box owners were excited to spend a wonderful summer's day in June browsing the Hampstead Affordable Art Show in London. A vast array of amazing contemporary art works, thousands of visitors and galleries from all around the world. Each gallery had it's own space and represented their own artists so the selection was mind boggling from paintings and prints to ceramics and sculptures. People and their pets were very evident, the British are mad about their pooches and they happily mingled around the show with their owners! We couldn't come away without selecting a work of our own by an artist from Richmond- it just ''spoke' to us. This four day event is a must for any art lovers. It's now on my bucket list to go to the Singapore art show and the Battersea show.
As higher density housing becomes more of the norm there is generally a conformity to the external aspect. Yet the opportunity to make an individual statement internally remains undiminished. Even the smallest of homes can be something very special and original art has a great role to play in converting a building into a place of originality and passion.
At Art Box Gallery we are experienced in helping home owners make the best of their living environment. So if you own a large home or a small apartment we can assist. Art Box Gallery has developed a reputation as 'the little gallery with a lot of art'. So do come and visit us or, if you are in a different part of the world, check out our website and let us know if we can assist. We use the NZ company Pack & Send to convey paintings overseas and have delighted various customers, particularly in Australia and the U.K., with some great New Zealand art. Friday 8th April at Art Box Gallery saw a lively group of local art collectors visit the gallery for an informative evening meeting and learning about artists. Bubbles and cheese were enjoyed and plenty of conversation and fun. If you would like us to host an art evening for your group please contact us on 03 3528940 or email to artboxgallery@xtra.co.nz
We have just packaged up some more paintings to send to the North Island. Increasingly we are assisting New Zealand art lovers beyond Christchurch and the south where we have worked hard to develop a reputation for service and integrity. Since Art Box Gallery began in 2011 our philosophy has remained constant. We like to provide a relaxed and friendly environment in which visitors can take their time over art purchases. We update our website and Facebook pages regularly so people from out of town can be informed as to what the gallery has available. If you are able to call in to Art Box you will be assured of a warm welcome and no pressure. If you are not able to do so, but like what you see on the website, then why not call us? We are increasingly helping art lovers from out of town.
Art Box Gallery is the home of Beverley Frost's art studio. Originally a place to work from, the Loftus Street studio in Papanui Christchurch now incorporates her working studio and the gallery which represents over 30 New Zealand artists. Emerging from the aftermath of the 2011 earthquakes when many galleries closed due to damage, Beverley saw the need to support mainly local artists in the first instance. Five years later she represents talented artists from further afield. She welcomes art lovers to her studio space which is open Tuesday to Saturday (except public holiday weekends) She accepts commissions as well as creating artworks for the galleries that represent her work around New Zealand. Call 03 3528940 or check out the hours at www.artboxgallery.info on the 'About Art Box' page. Her work can be seen at www.artbox.co.nz
It's the start of 2016 and Art Box is in its 5th year. We hope you all enjoyed a relaxing Christmas and holiday break. It's always good to recharge the batteries. We have started with a hiss and a roar with lots of new work already and a major push to rehang work and present our clients with plenty of great artworks. Many of our visitors are rebuilding their homes or needing art for new homes and this is the perfect place to choose something affordable that will give your home or businesses a fresh new original look. We can be contacted on 03 3528940 or by email at artboxgallery@xtra.co.nz if you want to chat about a home or work place visit. Hope to see you soon.
As the English Summer gives way to Autumn and Winter Art Box Gallery is helping to deliver a little light from New Zealand. This is the great thing about the web. An art lover can be 12,000 miles away yet they can visit our website as easily as someone who lives in Christchurch. So now we are beginning to get requests to supply paintings to England - with another one sent this week.
Our impression of the U.K. art market is that a move away from the traditional mass-produced print is gathering pace. From the biggest house to the smallest, from the most modest flat to the grandest apartment, all types of home can benefit from original art. At Art Box Gallery® we are always delighted to hear from art lovers overseas and we are committed to giving the same standard of service that we do locally. We are able to ship art on an insured basis through specialist shipper Pack & Send: http://www.packsend.co.nz/packing/arts-a-antiques If you see an artwork on our website this is of interest to you please don't hesitate to make contact. Art Box Gallery® is "the little gallery with a lot of art" and customers far and wide. |
