Spending my early years on farms in Okuku then Greenpark, Canterbury, gave me plenty of opportunity to draw. I could be seen frequently sitting in some quiet spot with my sketch pad drawing anything from Disney characters to sitting in the shearing shed watching their every move. Art is my passion (obsession my family would say) and now that my children are older I have become disciplined with my practice, drawing almost every day, thank you Grahame Sydney for those words of encouragement. I would consider myself very fortunate to have met some wonderful people who have inspired me, motivated me and given me excellent advice, thank you to them all! Gordon Sharp ... my first tutor Robert McDowell ... tested me yet inspired me Adrienne Palvelka, Margaret Hudson-ware, Grahame Sydney all played a huge part in enriching my life as an artist. I am currently working on a series of drawings, my husband Gary is a fireman and was very involved with the Christchurch earthquakes, these guys have experienced so much my goal is to be able to capture some of their emotion. Another project I’m working on is raising money for Koru Care, the whole process is very stimulating from beginning to end.
