Ruth Killoran
Ruth was born and lived her formative years in Liverpool, UK, attending Liverpool Art College for 2 years then completing a BA (Hons) in 3D design at Teeside University. She worked as a commercial interior designer in and around the London area before moving to New Zealand in 2006. Ruth is inspired to create from strong human emotions. She feels passionately that all species are connected on some levels and need each other not just to survive but to thrive. She loves the spontaneity of painting with watercolour, letting the flow of paint dictate the forms that generally emerge. Stone carving evolves in a similar manner, taking pleasure in creating flowing lines and shadows. She hopes to create an emotional connection with the viewer.
Ruth is gaining a reputation for producing intriguing, original work and exhibits regularly in New Zealand winning many awards here and overseas.
