Gail Batchelor
Gail is a Christchurch born artist- painter, photographer and printmaker. She graduated with a BFA from Canterbury University. She has held solo and collective exhibitions, selling art in NZ since 2000.
When painting she starts with an instinctive stroke that will come from an emotion, intellectual query or physical experience that fills her at the time. From then on the process is a series of questions that the work asks and she responds to. When all the questions are asked the work is finished. She finds the journey of painting a real joy, getting inspiration from looking beyond the obvious in both the images and words that fill her world.
