Christine King's portrayal of social scenes alludes to her fondness of the German Expressionist Style of the 30's. Beckmann in particular. Figures inhabit jazzy, edgy acrylics or oils, either on canvas or paper. Christine balances colour, form and subject matter. Her paintings are composites of imagination and observation. They are often narrative in nature. The pieces are inspired by the elegance of the 30's through to the trends of the present day.. Christine is known for her striking use of colour and her depictions of powerful women. Christine has exhibited her work in 11 solo and numerous group exhibitions throughout New Zealand and has also exhibited in London. Artworks are held in private collections throughout New Zealand, Australia, Europe and North America.
